United States: The country of ... The stripes and bullets?

The massacre in Florida was undoubtedly an unfortunate event where at least 50 people lost their lives, but it should be noted that this is not the first time that a situation of such magnitude has been experienced in the land of George Washington. Violence with firearms really rises to quite high levels over the years.

The regulation of weapons by people with mental problems proposed by Barack Obama was literally rejected by the current president Donald Trump, a measure that supposed an improvement at such alarming levels.

However, if we go into detail the amount of massacres perpetuated in the last decade in North American territory, we realize that it is not something new, but how is that still happening? Simply someone gets up one day, takes his gun and begins a massive slaughter (sounds strong, but it is the feeling that gives us).

For some time, the United States has built a rather negative stereotype: The ease of getting guns. As the second amendment of the United States makes it very clear, the bearing of arms is a right. This situation has taken a wave of Memes and mockingly criticized for such ease.

At least in Florida, you only need to be 21 years old, a weapons carrying competition and no more than $ 112 dollars. Simple, no? And given the "advantages" we have the country with more weapons per individual in the world, it would not be surprising to see bullets in schools, and even in theaters, unfortunately.

Today in WOW: World of words. I will show you from a chronicle of the most relevant events of recent years with collected data, to my final point of view about a phenomenon that has become more constant. We do not know how far it can go, or how many lives they have to leave to stop it in the end.

With information from my last post in Spanish, we will give an account of the biggest killings that have taken place on American soil of all time.

Here is a list of the nine best-known massacres, in chronological order:

 Massacre at Texas University.

Balance: 18 deaths.

Charles Whitman. Autor de la masacre

Beginning with one of the best-known massacres in the United States for those who have investigated beyond Internet "trending", on August 1, 1966, Charles Whitman, an ex-marine from the United States, left 16 people dead and 30 people injured while shooting from a tower at a University in Austin, Texas.

Arsenal used by Whitman

Police officers Ramiro Martinez and Houston McCoy leave Charles dead in the tower. Whitman had killed his mother and wife before. The chilling letter of his suicide reads as follows:

I do not understand very well what it is that forces me to write this letter. Perhaps it is to leave some vague reason for the actions that I have recently done. I really do not understand these days. I'm supposed to be a reasonable and intelligent man. However, lately (I cannot remember when it started) I have been the victim of many unusual and irrational thoughts.

Next to the lifeless body of his mother he left this note that said:

To whom it may concern: I have taken the life of my mother. It revolts me to have done it. However, I feel that if there is a heaven, she is definitely there now ... I'm really sorry ... Do not doubt that I wanted this woman with all my heart.
After murdering his wife he left a very disconcerting message:

I imagine that it seems that I brutally murdered my loved ones. I just wanted to do it fast and well ... If my life insurance policy is valid, please pay my debts ... donate the rest anonymously to a mental health foundation. Perhaps research can prevent future tragedies of this kind.
Among his post-mortem requests, he asked that his body be analyzed to try to find out the reason for so many headaches that afflicted him, said autopsy was performed and a brain tumor was found, which, according to Dr. Coleman de Chenar, would explain his actions.

Massacre in McDonalds of San

Ysidro. Balance: 21 deaths

James Huberty

On July 18, 1984, in San Ysidro, California, James Huberty, 41, armed with a long-barreled Uzi machine gun, a shotgun and a pistol, killed 21 people including children and adults in a McDonald's. The location. An hour later, he is killed by a sniper and leaves a total of 22 fallen people including Huberty himself.
McDonald's the day of the massacre.

The fast food chain decided to demolish the place and give way in 1988 to Southwestern Community College. This place was built on as an extension of its campus. It has 21 marble hexagons in commemoration of those killed in the massacre.

 Virginia Tech. Balance: 32 deaths

Jumping to the 21st century. On April 16, 2007, student Seung-Hui Cho from his senior year, 23 years old, kills 32 people and leaves an indeterminate number injured on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg. Later, the perpetrator commits suicide, he is the only one in the post who is not of American descent, since he was a native of South Korea.

Photo of Cho found in audiovisual material

Cho was able to send a postal order to NBC that could be shown to the world where he stated:
I did not have to do this, I could have gone, I could have disappeared, but no, I will not escape anymore, it's not like me, for my children, for my brothers and sisters that you screwed, I did it for them ... When he arrived the moment, I did it, I had to do it.
He even had a DVD material with 27 video files that brings together 10 minutes of audiovisual material in which he stated "They have had 100 trillion opportunities and ways to avoid it today. But they have decided to spill my blood”

No doubt Cho's mental balance was compromised in his own crusade.

Years later, in 2012 Virginia Tech would suffer a milder, but unfortunate episode, where 22-year-old Ross Truett Ashley, who was in the parking lot of McComas Hall, shot and killed Deriek Crouse (39), a policeman who was close to him.

Massacre of Aurora 2012

"The joker on stage".

Balance: 12 deaths.

This for me is undoubtedly the most interesting and morbid case of massacres on this list, how it is given, and how it ends, is one of the strongest reasons why I was inclined to write this post. The massacre of Aurora was consummated in a cinema on Friday, July 20 of that year during the premiere of the movie The Dark Knight Rises.

12 deceased and 59 wounded left James Eagan Holmes who entered the room with a joker´s costume and a gas mask. Holmes had not been a threat, during the screening, many people were disguised in the production of Christopher Nolan, but everything changed when James threw a gas grenade and began to distribute bullets with a rifle to attack the public. Only to be able to recharge and continue with the killing, tell the authorities.

Holmes on the day of his trial

The mental stability of Holmes was highly questioned by the facts, but it was not enough to avoid the sentence of life imprisonment that is currently in Colorado thus avoiding a death penalty previously requested by prosecutors.

That's how the cinema in Aurora was on the day of the massacre

Sandy Hook Elementary

Balance: 27 deaths.

Adam Lanza

Adam Lanza, 20 years old, ended up with the lives of children between 6 and 7 years old, and with six adults, at the Sandy Hook Primary School in Newtown, Connecticut, before committing suicide. Hours later her mother's lifeless body, Nancy Launches, was found in her house with a bullet wound.

To date, the authorities have not been able to demonstrate the reasons that motivated Adam to perform this act. They say that everything was planned in solitary, and that nobody knew their desires to do it.

The most deadly massacre in a school in the history of the United States, without a doubt a traumatic episode that taints the "national security".

Pulse Night Club: Horrible attack

 against the LGBT community,

balance: 26 deaths.

In a twenty-first century where tolerance for sexual orientation is becoming more eloquent, one keeps in mind that detractors will always exist. Affects to the religion, or people with a more closed thought that does not conceive the union of people of the same gender, they may feel animosity toward the LGBT community, but taking a step that means ending someone else's life can be brutal aberration.

The political and religious tension between the Islamic State and the rest of the world is at its highest point, a series of attacks have occurred around the world in order to strengthen the image of this insurgent terrorist group.

Its extremism has brought as a consequence hatred and lack of reason against those cultures other than its ideals, Europe has been severely affected by such attacks. But the United States is one of the targets most prone to this group since the events of the Iraq war in 2003. ISIS will always aim to alter US order at all costs.

Omar Mateen, perpetrator in the Pulse club

On June 12, 2016, at the gay club PULSE, in Orlando Florida, a massacre occurred that alarmed the world community and LGBT, a shooting that killed 49 people and injured at least 50 people. The perpetrator Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, died after being shot by the police. He solemnly swore allegiance to the Islamic State.

The tension was immediate and the wave of protests around the world was noted with great force, coupled with a series of regulations for Muslim people with intentions to enter the country.

Moment after the massacre

Killing in Baptist Church,

 Sutherland Springs.

Balance: 26 deaths

Pray, synonymous with peace and calm, understanding and union among peoples. Nothing else that can mean. But on November 5, 2017, it was not like that, Devin Patrick Kelley, 26 years old. He entered the small church and snatched the lives of 26 people to later be found lifeless after a persecution. It is still not clear if Kelley took his own life or if he was killed by the local police.

26-year-old Kelley, author of the massacre.

The largest massacre in the history of the State of Texas, the same one that has the largest number of weapons on average per capita. A situation that despite the terrible, unfortunately can be expected.

Church of Sutherland Springs, the day of the massacre

The Harvest Music Festival,

massacre in concert.

Balance: 58 deaths

The modern history of the United States can be easily spotted by this event. A 64-year-old man, identified as Stephen Paddock, fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino over a crowd of more than 20,000 people gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Harvest Route 91 Music Festival was held.
Paddock, 64 years old.

More than 58 people were hit and killed by Paddock bullets, and it is estimated that around 500 people were injured after the brutal demonstration of armed violence.

Moment of the Harvest Massacre

10 minutes of anxiety that were initially confused by the crowd among the fireworks. So much was the commotion of this massacre that the Islamic State was attributed the event alleging that Paddock, an accountant by profession, had recently converted to Islam. Case denied by the FBI later.

Parkland Massacre, for now the

last episode.

Balance: 17 deaths.

And here we come to the end of this morbid list. Parkland High School, February 18, 2018, place of the last violent event that the nation has lived and exploited social networks, urging even to confront once and for all, the liberal culture of carrying weapons in the United States.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, a member of white supremacy in Orlando Florida, who had already sent repeated threats to members of the high school, gave an incentive to his intentions; where he repeatedly joked (not quite) on social media of everything he wanted to do.

Photos of Cruz, on the right, one of the photos that he posted on the internet

Cataloged by "Racist" and "psychopath" by his classmates, the charge of hatred of Cruz, was very notorious. It is even known that he demonstrated an irrational hatred towards women and Jews.

On February 18 Nikolas, (who had been expelled) killed 17 people, wearing a gas mask, throwing smoke grenades and armed with a semi-automatic rifle type AR-15 caliber 5.56 mm (.223) and several chargers. Cruz was captured and is now in the custody of the Broward County Sheriff's Office, charged with seventeen counts of premeditated murder.

Nikolas, the day of his trial
It should be noted that a young Venezuelan named Anthony Borges, is now considered a hero, as with his teacher (who was killed) saved the lives of 20 of his classmates trying to close the door, which cost Borges 5 bullet impacts, but that fortunately, is out of danger.

Photo of Anthony Borges in the hospital, out of danger

The world is not a safe place, that is totally obvious, but the episodes recorded in the United States in the last decade, border on the fantastic, where mental instability and hatred of other races become powerful, increasingly alarming citizens and It can end if it goes out of control, in a blood bath that will be marked in history.

Every day more people join the cause for disarmament in North American lands, or at least a really serious regulation. Basically you need the same requirements to obtain a weapon, than to obtain a driver's license.

However, the national roots are evident in the face of possible regulation, during the Obama administration, attempts were made to neutralize the carrying of arms, but as quickly it was decided to leave the project behind due to the number of people against such resolution.

My question is: If the United States succeeds in attacking its second amendment, could it cause a potential civil war between those who agree and others who do not? What a problem they have in front, at least at this moment, the regulations must be seen. Perhaps in the future it will be accentuated, or perhaps we will continue to lament about such violent acts.
